FAQs
Everything people ask before they switch — your certificate, your applications, your tokens, and exactly where your key and PIN stay.
Getting started
01Do I need to purchase a new Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)?
No. eGuard works with your existing valid Digital Signature Certificate. There is no need to replace or reissue your DSC.
02Can I use eGuard without changing my existing workflow?
Yes. eGuard integrates with your existing signing applications, allowing you to continue using your current workflow while adding enhanced security and control.
Compatibility
03Which applications are compatible with eGuard?
eGuard integrates with applications and portals that use CSP, KSP, or PKCS#11 interfaces, including Adobe Acrobat, GST Portal, MCA, Income Tax Portal, ICEGATE, and many enterprise applications.
04Which operating systems are supported?
eGuard runs on both sides of a signing session — the Host on the computer that requests the signature, and the user application on the device that holds your token and approves it:

- macOS
- Linux
eGuard user application
- Windows, macOS and Linux (token holder & approval)
- Android (token holder & approval)

Security & privacy
06Is my private key ever shared or stored on the server?
No. Your private key always remains securely inside your USB token. It is never copied, uploaded, or stored on eGuard servers.
07Is my PIN transmitted over the internet?
No. In Remote Approval mode, your PIN is entered only on your mobile device and never travels across the network or is exposed to the host computer.
08Is my document stored on eGuard servers?
No. Documents are not stored on eGuard servers. Only the document hash is processed during signing, and any document preview is relayed securely without permanent storage.
Control & compliance
09Can I approve or reject every signing request?
Yes. In Remote Approval and Host + Mobile Code modes, every signing request requires your approval, and you can reject any request instantly.
10Does eGuard maintain activity logs?
Yes. Every signing request is recorded with detailed audit information, including timestamp, application or website, signing mode, certificate details, approval status, and host information.
11Is eGuard compliant with Indian Digital Signature standards?
Yes. eGuard is designed to align with the Indian Digital Signature ecosystem and works with existing CCA-compliant Digital Signature Certificates.
